Our main program will be a discussion of the Hirst Decision and information about how to support climate-active state legislators. We will also elect three at-large E-Board members, update our bylaws, and, time permitting, consider any resolutions that were not covered by our January 24 online meeting (these will be member-only votes, see below to become a member).
Location: Four Points Sheraton Bellingham, at 714 Lakeway Drive, Bellingham, WA; Time: 8:00 am, member sign-in starting at 7:30 am. WSDCC asks that we also register (it’s free) at this link:
https://wsdccmeeting.eventsmart.com/events/january-2018-wsdcc-meeting/
Registration is not absolutely required, but doing so will also mean that when you arrive at the Four Points Sheraton and check in at the state party table, they will give you a name sticker and a schedule of sessions being held.
The ECC meeting will have very full agenda, so please arrive early to get checked in. There will be no Remote Access available at this meeting.
Signing In at the Caucus Meeting
Please stop by the Cascade room as early as possible after 7:30 am to check in with ECC and receive your credential. Our meeting will begin promptly at 8:00 a.m. Members paid and in good standing by Dec 28, 2017 will be credentialed to vote, make motions and comment on motions. All are welcome to attend, even if not credentialed.
Your proxy can be given to another member in good standing. Members can exercise only two votes total (theirs and one proxy). To be recognized, check with that potential proxy holder for acceptance first and then email:
- Your Proxy
- ECC Chair Steve Verhey at verheys@hotmail.com
Agenda
An agenda, along with a copy of our previous session’s minutes for your review prior to voting to accept them at the meeting and copies of the proposed resolutions will be emailed to you in about a week.
Call for Resolutions
Is there an issue you think needs attention? The starting point is a resolution outlining your idea and proposed action. Resolutions are those old-fashioned-sounding, formal things with whereases and therefores. Here’s a template you can use, and here’s a link to WSDCC’s rules for resolutions.Resolutions are due to our Resolutions Committee by January 17 or as soon as possible.
Reminder – Dues Renewal
Current memberships expire after our January 27 meeting. Your $20 renewal will continue your voting membership throughout the remainder of 2018 and through the late January 2019 meeting. Please renew in person at our meeting, or send a check made out to “Environment and Climate Caucus” to: John Stafford, Treasurer – ECC, 1723 13th Avenue South Unit 404, Seattle, WA 98144. Membership dues for one year are $20.00, or whatever you can afford. If you would like to become a voting member for $0.00, just include a note to that effect. Thank you!
